When did you join the VG team?

I joined VG in January 2020 from another Trust Company in Jersey where I had worked for 3 and a half years.

What attracted you to VG?

A mix of reasons attracted me to VG; I wanted to progress to the next step in my career and from what I had been told from friends who work at VG, there is career progression at VG and importantly support to progress. From what I had seen on social media, I really liked the look of VG’s culture including their participation in local events, their support for local charities and awareness of initiatives such as world mental health day and supporting their staff to take part.

What does a day look like in your role?

Every day is different! I administer a busy and diverse client portfolio. Part of my day is taken up by administration such as payments, preparation of board packs and liaising with various tax advisors/legal advisors, however there is a lot of client contact which is what I enjoy most.

What is the next step for you and how has VG supported your ambitions?

I was promoted to Senior Trust Officer four months after joining VG, which demonstrates VG’s commitment to recognising their staff. I showed a keen interest in developing my knowledge in Islamic Finance and VG encouraged me and are supporting me to sit the Islamic Finance qualification.

What is your favourite thing about life at VG?

There is a family feel at VG, which I really love especially given that my first year at VG, thanks to COVID, was spent mainly working from home. The role is challenging but you have people around to support and bring the best out of you.
